More Kids?!?!

I don't know what it is about Jenna turning one but all of a sudden we've started talking about the future of our family (meaning when should we start trying for baby #2).  Not only have hubby and I started talking about it - but people have started asking us.  This last part is kind of weird to me considering my brother and I are 5 years apart...but I guess nowadays people have kids closer together since women are starting their families a little later.  I dunno!

I'm also finding myself drawn to the little babies that are around. One of my good friends is going to have a baby this week and I honestly cannot wait to just cuddle with a teeny tiny newborn...I mean it'll be great to give the baby back to her parents, but still.  Everyone says it goes so fast and it really does. It makes my uterus twitch just thinking about it!
In all honesty, I kind of want to have kids close together just so that the whole infancy/diaper phase of MY life is over quicker.  I also am at the point where I finally have my body back but I know it's just on loan until I get pregnant again.  So let's just get the pregnancies done with so I can have my body back for good. The thing that scares me is that having kids that close in age means that life is complete chaos for a while (or forever)...but then again, isn't life pretty chaotic now anyway?!?!

You know it's a good weekend...

When you wake up on Sunday morning and think it's Monday!! Awesome Feeling!

I think part of it was that I had two back to back ladies nights last week - that's right two in a row! Thursday and Friday I got some much needed ladies time with my friends...which included dinner, wine & cocktails (wine on thursday, cocktail on friday!), laughter, tears, and good times.

I have made some great girlfriends over the past year.  I never thought that I would meet new friends in my 30's but moving to this neighborhood and having Jenna opened up a whole new world to me.  We're such an eclectic mix - some are stay at home moms like me, others are back at work full time, some are part time, some have nannies, some have kids in daycare.  Some are from near here, some from far...some are planning to stay in the area, others are planning to move away - you get my drift.  But they've all been amazing friends to me and I am lucky to have them in my life!

Anyway so back to the weekend...Saturday we did something we don't usually do in the morning and when Jenna woke up (around 6 am), we brought her into bed with us.  We were both still tired (I got home kinda late) and we put on some Nick Jr. and we hung out in bed (which meant Mike and I closed our eyes and I think Jenna watched some TV).  It was nice to just get a lazy start to the day, unlike our usual get-up-and-go routine.  We had a great day with grandparents - grabbing brunch, playing at the park, getting ice cream, and napping (for Jenna) outside.  It was a rainy Sunday so it was the perfect day for chores (grocery shopping and new cell phones) and watching a bad movie (Bride Wars).

I Heart Awards!

My new (but really close) friend over at Baby to Go  gave me this award. And if you haven't already, you should check out her blog - ESPECIALLY if you plan to travel (near or far) with your baby - trust me - she's done it and written about it!

So here are the rules of the Happy 101 Award:

1. Copy and paste the award on your blog.

2. List who gave the award to you and use a link to her blog (or hyperlink)

3. List 10 things that make you happy.

4. Pass the award on to other bloggers and visit their blog to let them know about the award.

Ten things that make me happy (in no particular order)...

1. My family - I am seriously nothing without my husband, daughter, parents, siblings (both biological and in-law) and niece (who I seriously think is the most amazing 3+ year old EVER!) - I was even fortunate to marry into a great family.

2. My friends both old and new - I've written about them all (and hope they don't mind).  Some have known me forever and still love me others are getting to know me know and still like me! I am very lucky.

3. Food - I just love it - all of it - not picky and will try anything.

4.  Traveling - wish we could do it more...but I love the feeling of getting on a plane knowing that I'm going somewhere.

5. My new ride - even though traffic sucks and Jenna is not the happiest camper in the car - it still makes me happy.

6. Sex - c'mon who's not happy about that?!

7. Morning nap time - it's when I drink my coffee and either read my book, do my NY Times crossword puzzle, or catch up on DVR.  The day Jenna stops taking that morning snooze will be a sad one for me.

8. My blog...kind of cheesy to write that here - but I've always wanted to write and I feel like this has been a great outlet for me (who cares if anyone's even bothering to read it - writing it makes me happy).

9. My contact lenses - I am blind as a bat and don't really care for myself in glasses -so my dailies make me happy.

10. Hair removal products - god - what I would look like without them!!

Talked to my hubby and he couldn't believe I didn't have this on my list already so...

11. Baths - they're heaven sent (especially the one at my parents' house which isn't even fancy)
Passing some happy onto...

My Love/Hate Relationship with the Pacifier

Okay so here it goes the great pacifier debate - one side says to get rid of it ASAP the other side says why mess with a good thing?  I get it...I get both sides of this - Jenna happens to be a good sleeper and one nights when she stirs (that's our word for a little whimper but not fully awake) that pacifier is literally a god send - stick it in and nighty night she goes...

But there's a much darker side to the pacifier...we have 3 in our rotation at the moment - she keeps one in her mouth and likes to hold onto others in her sleep.  I am obsessed with knowing where all 3 are at all times. They are different colors so we refer to them by color...I can't tell you how often our conversations go something like this:

Honey, where's the purple one?
I think it's in her crib
It's not - where is it???
Did you check the diaper bag or the floor or the stroller??

At this point I am frantically looking for a f**ing plastic thing all over my house.  RIDICULOUS!!
And Jenna likes to throw them - tosses them out of the crib (to which I am on my hands and knees searching for them) or out of the stroller (I have been known to backtrack a couple of blocks hoping to find this piece of plastic!) or out of the carseat (I have had to pull over to retrieve them from the floor)

I know there are many reasons to get rid of them - teeth, attachment...blah blah blah - I need to cut my attachment to these damn things and I am just tired of depending on a little thing to get my kid to sleep.

So Jenna's world and my world is about to be ROCKED because one of these days (soon) I am going to have the balls to throw them out and not look back.  My husband response "what do we do when she wakes up? How is she going to fall asleep?" Well...I guess we're just going to have to find out...god help us!

Confessions

I was thinking that every week I would do some confessions - all sorts of them - mommy-related, wife-related, just plain life-related....I'd love to hear some of yours!

Jenna needs me to sit in there with her while she settles in for sleep - while I'm in there I check out Perez Hilton on my phone...I love catching up on all the latest celebrity gossip while I'm sitting there in the dark! It's my guilty pleasure :)

Being a Mother is Just Like High School

It's the first real beautiful day and I'm definitely starting to get stir crazy sitting in the house with my newborn daughter. I mean don't get me wrong, she's beautiful and I can sit and watch her sleep - but there's only so much "talking" I can do with noon talking back. It makes you start to question your sanity.
So I decide to venture to the local park. Now I know that since my daughter is going to sit in her stroller -it's more of an outing for me. I walk over there with very hig expectations. (My husband is always telling me to manage my expectations) - I'm thinking "this is going to be great, I'll meet some new moms....I'll get some sun..."
I get to the park - as I'm walking in I can feel the other moms staring at me (maybe it was my imagination - but it really felt like that). I start thinking - Is my daughter dressed cute enough? Is my stroller nice enough? Do I still look 6 months pregnant? I start looking around and it seems like everyone knows each other...
There's a section of nannies all talking and laughing together, a section of mommies by the swings - all talking, a section of mommies on the monkey bars - all talking. And me...I don't know a single person there...so I park myself on a bench with my stroller and my book, put on my sunglasses, and do what anyone else in this situation would do...I called my husband and CRIED.
It felt like the first day of high school - but not the first day where you know kids from Junior High - the first day being a transfer student...the cliques were already formed and you have to find where you belong and how to get into a group you like...
